WSET Level 1 Award in Wines

EN_Wines, Level 1 Award

The WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines prepares students for a career in hospitality or retail. The program delivers the essential product knowledge and skills required in the service and retail of wine.

The program is an excellent introduction for the wine novice, non-wine drinkers and those encountering wine for the first time.

If you already have a basic understanding of wine then the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is the best starting point for you.

What you will learn:

  • The main types and styles of wine
  • Common wine grapes and their characteristics
  • How to make food and wine pairings
  • How to store and serve wine
  • How to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)
  • Social responsibility surrounding wine consumption

Note: The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is not a pre-requisite for studying the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines Course.
